Wendell Troy, CIO

A North Carolinian born and raised, Wendell Troy (Troy to all who know him) adds polish to the success of Schoollink.

Troy built a personal career foundation in the computer industry with IBM and Radio Shack Through his association with Erik Wells and Gavin Guttersen; he eagerly jumped on the evolutionary journey to Schoollink.  Along the way he often heard comments from the educators they were helping put computer networks together say: “Now that we have the computers, what are we going to do with them?” or “I don’t have time to learn how to use this thing!”  Troy passed that information on to Erik Wells.  While Erik and Gavin put together the business plan for Schoollink and began working around the clock to develop applications that would help school administrators with the implementation of new technology, Troy was on the road developing a customer base that would use the tools that the company was creating.

Along the way, it was discovered that Internet service was sparse or nonexistent in many of the rural areas that Schoollink was beginning to serve.  Dial-up service was added to the offerings of Schoollink and the term “Linking classrooms to the world...one classroom at a time” emerged.

Today, the applications created by Schoollink have merged into the municipal and corporate world as well as showing continued growth in the educational sector.

Through the applications and state-of-the-art training that Schoollink offers, Troy is able to demonstrate a genuine return-on-investment on the applications.  Because the Schoollink pricing structure is affordable, the applications fit into the budgets of the smallest school systems, municipalities and business environs.

Troy and his two partners are also owners of GET Management Group, and Jagwire Fiber Optic Solutions.

Troy also manages to find time to involve himself in community matters.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Selective Service System, Cumberland County Workforce Development, and is an active member of the Fayetteville Business and Professional League.

Get Troy near a grill, give him an apron and some seasonings and stand back, the man is a master on the grill.
