D. Locations - Placing info in this setup is optional.

E. Click the arrow again to close the lower half of the FreePPP Setup window.

F. Set the Connect to: field to School Link.

G. Set the From: field to Home.


II) SETUP OF ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE

II.1) Software Overview

1. Netscape - This is the industry standard in Web Browsers. A Web Browser allows you to experience the Internet through a graphical environment known as the World Wide Web.

2. Internet Explorer - This is a Web Browser manufactured by Microsoft.


II.2) Setting Up I.E.

1. Double click on the HARD DRIVE icon.

2. Click on FILE. Then select NEW FOLDER.

4. A new folder will be created with the name, "New Folder". Hit the delete key to remove this name, then type in "Downloads" and hit the RETURN key. NOTE: The purpose of creating this folder, is so that you  have someplace to downloaded files to.

5. Dial into NORTH CAROLINA SCHOOL LINK.

6. Once connected to North Carolina School  Link, make sure that Microsoft Internet Explorer is open. The default page that it will open to is the "Microsoft Network" home page.

7. Change the Address to read : http://www.schoollink.net __________________ and hit enter.

8. Click on VIEW, and then click on OPTIONS. Click on the "Home/Search Page" tab and then click on the USE CURRENT button.  (What this did is to set up  SCHOOL LINK as your home page so that every time you connect and load Internet Explorer, you will automatically start at the North Carolina School Link Home Page)

9. Click on "MAIL" tab and then choose Mail Server Address.  Set to "rrgsd.schoollink.net" . Click to add a check to This Server requires authorization.  Then type your email name, password, Full Name and email address in the appropriate fields.

10. Click on "NEWS" tab and in the News Server field enter "snews2.zippo.com" .  You may either enter the login and password here or it will inquire every time you select news.  Enter your Name and email address in the appropriate fields

11. Click on OK
