1.3) Open Transport Settings (skip if using MacTCP)

A. Open the Control Panels and select TCP/IP

B. Enter the Following Settings for TCP/IP
1. Connect Via: FreePPP
2. Configure: Using Bootp Server
3. Starting Domain: schoollink.net
4. Name Servers: 207.86.145.4 and 207.86.145.5
5. Leave Subnet Mask, Router Address, Ending Domain and search domains blank.
6. Under Options:
  a. Make sure Active is checked
  b. Make sure Load only when needed is checked
7. Click OK

C. Restart to enable TCP/IP settings

1.4) FreePPP Settings

A. Open FreePPP Setup from the Menu Bar on the Desktop (Green phone) and Click on the Arrow to open the settings.

B. General Setup

1. Tailor the following according to your preferences:
  a. Allow applications to open connection - Will automatically open a connection to School Link if you    click on a TCP/IP application.
  b. Disconnect if idle of X (minutes or hours) - Allows you to automatically disconnect after X time unit if    you leave and forget you are connected.
  c. Check line every X (seconds or minutes) - Checks for connection every X time units.
  d. Allow alerts during Connection - Enables alerts when you make a connection.
  e. On connect open FreePPP setup application - Pops up the connect/Disconnect box after connection    if enabled.
  f. Open application on connect... - Allows you to specify an application that you want automatically    started when you make a connection.

2. Click on the Modem Setup button.
  a. Set the port the modem is connected to.
  b. Check Enable audio feedback while connecting-You may change this option after you have verified    that you can connect.
  c. Check Hang-up on disconnect.
  d. Check Global Init String and enter your the init string for your modem.  Some common default    modem strings that may work include:
  AT&F&D0&C1X4V1Q0S7=70 or AT&F&D0&C1 or AT&F or AT&F1 or AT&F2 or AT&F0
  Most modems will work properly with  ATZ

3. Click on Open TCP/IP - Verify the settings from Section I or II of this document. Click OK.

C. Account Setup

1. Click New Button.

2. Type School Link as Server name.

3. Enter dial access phone number.  535-0819

4. Choose Connect Via Script.  Then choose edit script.

5. Fill in as follows:

Do:  Text:    Return
Wait for  gin:   
Send  your login name        X
Wait for  word:
Send  your password        X

6. Click OK    Click OK again
